DRAGON DANCE

What is Dragon Dancing?

Dragon dancing is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. You can see dragon dancing in a Chinese festival or parade or at other Chinese festive celebrations.

SGVCCA is known for its smoke-breathing dragon, Barney, a beautifully handmade black and red dragon.

Dragon Practice!

SGVCCA teaches dragon dancing usually from the months of November to February, due to having the Chinese New Year usually in February. We teach dragon dancing at the same place as lion practice on Saturdays from 1 - 4 PM. Each year we participate in the Chinatown Parade and about every other in the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade.

Here’s a YouTube video of our latest dragon parade, which you can find on YouTube by searching SGVCCA!
